James McAvoy Gets Crazy in M. Night Shyamalan's First Trailer of Split: Watch
  • James McAvoy Goes a Little Crazy in the New Trailer for Split

M. Night Shyamalan presents James McAvoy in different characters in the new trailer for the movie Split.

Have we seen James McAvoy dressed as a woman before? Yes. Have we seen him do some crazy roles? Absolutely yes? Have we witnessed some of the most odd and weird things from director M. Night Shyamalan? There isn’t any doubt about it. So imagine when these two get together for a movie and we got our first trailer for Split.

The trailer for the movie gives us the creeps straightaway. We see three young girls going together to sit in a car while a man, we assume is the father of one of the girls is putting some groceries in the back. They happily chat away while we see someone approaching the father. The girl in the front seat notices grocery bags spilling on the ground before she looks sideways and there is another man (James McAvoy) sitting there, looking ahead.

The other girls call out to him and tell him that he is in the wrong car. He quickly pulls on a mask and sprays the girls in the back seat with something while the girl in the front seat watches in a daze. He then goes for her and she faints. She regains consciousness and see herself being dragged through some underground hallway with pipes.

The girls are locked in a room and they contemplate their situation. Kevin, the kidnapper, comes in with a gun and tells them that he was sent to get them for a reason. We see a hamster on a wheel in the room while the girls bang the door and demand that he opens it and McAvoy’s character named Kevin is installing a lock on the door.

The girl in the front seat notes that there are flowers on the pillows and the bathroom which means that they are important. The other girl says that the chance of them getting out is if all three of them go crazy on the man. They notice someone standing in the corridor wearing a skirt and heels and they shout for the woman for help.

To their surprise and shock, when the door opens, it is Kevin who is dressed as a woman and he tells them that they did not need to worry. He, in his woman form, tells them that ‘he’ is not allowed to touch them. ‘He’ knows what they’re there for. ‘He’ listens to her. We then see Kevin sitting in the doorway and he looks excited in a yellow jacket.

He tells the girls that his name is Hedwig. When the girl asks him how old he is, he replies that he is nine. We then see a degree of Karen Fletcher who is a psychologist and the character claims that she has never seen a case like this before. She narrates that 23 identities live in Kevin while we see Kevin, supposedly in different identities.

The girl wakes up and see his woman form standing over her and smiling while holding a tray. We then see Kevin sitting in Fletcher’s office when she asks him who he is. In a split second, he turns his head and we see him screaming before he come back to normal. The girl in the front seat pleads with Hedwig to help her get out of captivity.

He picks her up and takes her to her room. He tells her that if she tries to trick him, he’ll tell on her. We see her pulling the vent cap off. Kevin’s female form smiles at her and says that she is the clever one. In another scene, Kevin comes in while the girl backs away from the door. We hear Fletcher say that an individual with multiple personalities can change their body chemistry and we see Kevin’s backside changing while we hear the crack of bones, and Fletcher says that they can do it with their thoughts.

The girl hides in the locker and we see Hedwig playfully saying that someone is coming for her. We see a close up of a picture of a monster looming over stick figures. The girl asks who is coming. We see Kevin sitting on the bed in black clothes and glasses while he tells the girl ‘the Beast’. In a reel, we see one of the girls hiding in the locker is found by Kevin, in another scene he is punched by one of the girls as she runs to grab a walkie talkie and says that there is a man there who had abducted them and he is going to kill her.

We see Kevin suffering from some pain, the girl walking in a room with Kevin right behind her, Kevin rises, the girl says something horrible as she looks on to him. We see a man climbing up and running away naked. Another picture of a monster, one of the girls being dragged away, police searching with dogs and a dead stag. We hear Kevin say that the world will understand now that the beast is real. After the movie title we see Hedwig telling the girls excitedly that ‘he has done awful things to people and he will do awful things to you.’

The film stars Betty Buckley, Haley Lu Richardson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sterling K. Brown. It is set to release in January, 2017.
