  • Five Fatal Diseases can be Avoided by Exercising on a Regular Basis

It has been said that five fatal diseases can be avoided by exercising on a regular basis.

People who lead active lives tend to lower their risk of contracting five deadly diseases. These are: breast and bowel cancer, diabetes, cardiac arrest and stroke. Ths study, published in BMJ, clearly shows the benefits of exercising each and every day.

The World Health Organization has even recommended certain guidelines on the matter. Among the things people can to do ward off these five big ailments are: domestic chores such as housework and gardening as well as walking and cycling.

Yet it was still a moot point how much these activities reduce the chances of disease. Therefore, a group of scientists from the United States and Australia decided to investigate the issue on their own.

174 studies that took place between 1980 and 2016 examined the link between total physical activity and the big five diseases mentioned earlier.

Apparently, exercising a lot during the week led to a lowered risk of these diseases. At the highest levels of activity though there was a case of diminishing returns.

Among the activities that could be engaged in daily were: stairclimbing for 10 minutes, vacuuming for 15 minutes, gardening for 20 minutes, running for 20 minutes and walking or cycling for 25 minutes.

Thus the recommendations made by WHO have to exceeded by a considerable amount in order to truly benefit from physical activity. If observation serves the researchers well, there is definitely a link between exercise and warding off deadly diseases.

Since the 90s, there has been a greater incidence of CV disease and diabetes-related deaths. The population has undergone a lengthening of life span too thereby bringing in its spate several degenerative diseases. As for physical activity levels, they have plummeted.

One should find the time to engage in a variety of exercises. By maintaining an active lifestyle, one can avoid contracting all these nasty diseases of civilization and modernity.

While every person responds differently to exercise, it is on the whole a great tonic for the body and mind. Combined with diet and rest not to mention stress relief, an exercise routine can work wonders for the human physique and psyche.
