EQ might be the name of Mercs new EV sub-brand.

Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the new EV brand of the vehicles. Many speculation were made about its name and it looks like we finally have got one. It looks like the new brand name will be EQ as many new trademark applications have been filled for the different patents using these letters.

The trademarks that are applied for registration in UK included EQA, EQC, EQE, EQG and EQS, according to AutoCar. Along with that other terms such as EQ Boost, EQ Inside, and Generation EQ were also applied for registration. These terms were all filed in this month under the category of motor vehicle classification.

The trademark names simply tell us about the way these trademarks will be used. We can easily see that Mercedes-Benz is going to use this new brand name with already existing models of the vehicles the company is producing.

For instance EQA can simply be related to A-Class. EQC will be related to C class Mercedes-Benz. The EQ Boost trademark might be used for the hybrid cars. BMW is all set to launch its hybrid fleet of cars too, these will have an I badge on them. These will include 330e, X5 xDrive40e and 740e.

It is said that the new EQ sub-brand will be launched with the introduction of an electric SUV. The concept of an all-electric SUV Mercedes-Benz will be shown in Paris motor show next month. It is supposed to be Merc’s first EV in order to compete with Tesla S. it is said that this vehicles will be out by the end of this decade.

No official comment could be received on this news. However it is pretty certain that the automaker is looking for a new sub-brand like that of i brand for new line of EVs.
