The recall was made for transmission leakage.

A number of Mitsubishi Outlander 2015 are being recalled officially by the company after many complaints were lodged against the leaky transmission. Thus after following up the problem Mitsubishi has recalled 45,731 Outlander Sport crossovers which were released in 2015.

All the recalled vehicles had a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine and were facing the transmission leakage issues. All of them used variable transmissions but the problem was same in all of them.

The problem has arisen due to the incorrect installation of a clamp on CVT hose. Thus the hose can come any time while driving due to incorrect installation. If the hose comes off it can cause transmission fluid leakage, according to AutoBlog.

If the all transmission fluid comes out, it can cause the car to stop. However the real danger is the fact that if the transmission comes in contact with any heated material it can instantly catch fire thus causing burning hazard.

There have been multiple reports that were reported to NHTSA due to the problem. However fortunately no cases of accidents or injuries were reported. Mitsubishi has also listed the recall as warranty claim in all the recalled cars.

The cars will be bought back to the dealers by their owners. The dealers will check for any loose hose installations. On finding the problem they will fix it with correct installation otherwise the crossover will be given a green chit.

If you are one of the owners, whose car belongs to the Mitsubishi Outlander 2015 model then we will recommend you to check the transmission fuel. If there is any leak then you must take it your dealer in order to fix the problem. The car shouldn’t be driven until the problem is fixed otherwise it can cause a major damage.
