Niantic updated the Pokemon Go on the server side on August 20.

Niantic updated Pokemon Go on the server side on Friday. The changes include increased spawn rates of rare Pokemon including the region specific Pokemon Kangakhan (Australia), Mr. Mime (Europe) and Farfetch'd (Asia). Niantic is also finally addressing the issue of no Pokemon in rural areas.

There are reports of increased number of Pokemon and PokeStops from the country-side. This move reduces the need for trainers to use GPS spoofing to teleport to cities in order to find Pokemon.

Another update affects the Egg hatching. The distance is updated more often making the process more accurate. There seems to also be changes to the allowed maximum speed. This is not conclusive yet. This is the problem with the new Pokemon Go update. Niantic did not provide release notes. The company just changed the game and trainers have to find out themselves what changed.

Another group of changes is in the move sets of a list of Pokemon. Why a change has to be made there is not clear. It makes things even more confusing. Nick at the Trainer Tips Youtube channel points out that Pokemon that you already own are not changing. He recommends to hold on to Pokemon with original move sets, as they will be more valuable once trading of Pokemon gets launched. There is a discussion about the changes on reddit with an overview of the changed move sets.

The Trainer Tips video below explains the changes.

The saturation of Pokemon Go has already kicked in. The Pokemon Go app is dropped out of the Top 10 free apps on iTunes. Niantic needs to focus now on keeping the current players happy and keep them spending money on PokeCoins. Pokemon Go is still ranks #1 top grossing app.

As long as Niantic is not rolling out the Pokemon tracker feature in the app to all trainers, here is a list of available Pokemon Go maps, trackers and notifiers. Using any 3rd party Pokemon Go software can get your account permanently banned.
