An new report puts the revenue of Pokemon Go at the level of Summer Blockbuster movies.

The Pokemon Go game has grossed $440 million since the game's launch on July 6 according to a new report. Niantic nets $308 million. More than a 120 million stays with Apple.

Pokemon Go is ranking number one in the top grossing app chart since day one. Downloads and daily users have dropped significantly in recent weeks, but the augmented reality game is a revenue engine.

Trainers continue to spend money on lures and other items to build out their Pokedex. Spending seems though to have slowed down. In the period of August 5 to today, the app only generated $100 million in revenues. In the first month it generated almost twice as much. Pokemon Go is according to the report still generated $4 million in gross revenue per day.

App tracking and analytics company SensorTower compared the gross revenue of Pokemon Go with 2016 summer blockbuster movies like Warcraft, Independence Day 2 and Angry Birds, which all earned less than Pokemon Go.

The app analytics company puts the number of world-wide Pokemon Go app downloads at 180 million.

Niantic is working on a major update that will include the release the nearby in-app tracker this month. The Pokemon Go Plus wearable requires a tracker functionality to work. The device is supposed to ship by the end of September according to Nintendo. The first stores have started to take Pokemon Go Plus pre-orders.
