The FastPokeMap Pokemon Go map has outlived PokeVision.

South Africa seems to be a safe place for 3rd party Pokemon Go developers. The popular FastPokeMap is now online since 1 month. This is longer than PokeVision has existed. As reported last month, FastPokeMap kind of took over for Pokevision. The Pokemon Go map service is developed by a single developer who is a Security researcher & Network Security Specialist by day.

After spending most development time with scaling the Pokemon tracker as it became more popular, FastPokeMap is getting new features. Besides the standard features of filtering for the Pokemon you search for, the developer is now adding IV scanning for a limited number of Pokemon.

The new feature requires more hardware, which is paid for with donations. As reported in our first report about FastPokeMap, this developer is not in it for the money.

I have tested FastPokeMap today again and it feels much more responsive and finds more Pokemon than in my earlier tests. I prefer the map used under the beta url of FastPokeMap. You can access it under fastpokemap.se/beta.

FastPokeMap does not require any logins to use, which makes it safe to use as Niantic will not easily be able to ban your account. Niantic has taken less aggressive stance against real-time map app users. It still though better to use an app that does not require a login for Pokemon scanning. Niantic is working on an in-app Pokemon tracker that will make the need to use 3rd party Pokemon scanners unnecessary. Many will just stop to exist. Only those that are offering more powerful feature will continue to be used, unless Niantic manages to shut them down.

An obvious release date for the in-app Pokemon Go tracker is September 30. This is the date when the Pokemon Go Plus Bluetooth wearable goes on sale. The nearby tracker is essential for it to work. Pokemon Go Plus is available for Pre-order in select European countries. The US pre-order did not start yet.

As long as Niantic is not rolling out the Pokemon tracker feature in the app to all trainers, here is a list of available Pokemon Go maps, trackers and notifiers. Using any 3rd party Pokemon Go software can get your account permanently banned.
