Tesla CEO Elon Musk is now more two weeks late with publishing the details of the Tesla Software Update 8. Now there is a new plan.
Elon Musk promised to release the details about the Tesla software update 8.0 and 8.1 on August 31. Then this happened and he postponed the publication of the firmware 8 upgrade to end of last week, forgetting probably that its Labor Day weekend. Now the holidays are over and we expected the release of the details this week. It did not happen.

Update 9/11: The Tesla Software Update 8 Details are Released including radar Autopilot.
Elon Musk tweeted at 1am PDT, Friday that the Autopilot 8.0 details are coming tomorrow. "Will get back to Autopilot update blog tomorrow," he wrote. That was another announcement of the Autopilot 8.0 release notes did not happen. At 11am on Saturday, Elon Musk announced a new plan for the Autopilot 8.0 update.
There will be Q&A for members of the press at 11am PDT on Sunday. The blog post with the feature details of the Tesla Software 8.0 release will be published soon after this event.
Update 09/11 2: Some details from the Autopilot 8 Q&A start to trickle out. Pete Bigelow tweets that Elon Musk believes the new Autopilot 8 features could have saved Joshua Brown's life. Additionally Tesla continues to keep Autopilot in Beta just to diminishing people’s complacency.
We expect the full Tesla software 8 details on the Tesla site this afternoon.
Update 09/11: It is 11am PDT on Sunday, Sept. 11. We don't know yet if the press conference call is on. There is no tweet yet from a member of the press who got an invitation to the Q&A Session.
Musk apologizes for the delay saying: "Sorry about delay. Unusually difficult couple of weeks."
Elon Musk has definitely bigger problems at his hands than writing down the new features of the upcoming Tesla software update that brings improvements of Autopilot using radar better and new user interface changes.
Tesla is planning to raise money in the last quarter for the mass production of the Tesla Model 3. Complicating things are Musk's plans to have Tesla acquire SolarCity. The merge is right now under review of the SEC. Tesla and SolarCity shareholder could vote on the merger in October. On top of that the cause of the SpaceX rocket explosion remains a mystery. SpaceX engineers and Elon Musk have not yet found the cause. There is now a call to the public to submit any video or audio material of the explosion. Musk said that there is a weird noise just before the Falcon 9 explodes.
The new Autopilot version is going to introduce safety measures to stop Tesla drivers from abusing the system. New features include to take Highway exits automatically. The new Tesla Software release 8 will include a major user interface update as well.
