Emotions were running high in the Dancing with the Stars ballroom on Monday night after two men wearing anti-Ryan Lochte shirts rushed the stage after the fallen Olympic hero's performance with Cheryl Burke on the ABC reality dance competition.

Audiences at home (and on Twitter) were left confused as judge Carrie Ann Inaba was unable to tame her face as they ran on stage. The cameras stayed on her, but newly released footage from ABC shows the protester stepping between host Tom Bergeron and the camera. As the protestor turns, he is quickly tackled by security. They were then escorted off stage.

Still, the tackle caused him to hit Lochte, Burke, and Bergeron.

After Bergeron cut to commercial, four women in similar shirts were escorted from their seats as the men continued to boo.

Many audience members chanted support to Ryan, and pro dancer Derek Hough came out to yell at the remaining men, eventually telling security to "get them out of here."

"This is my home and I was just so shocked that people would come here and be so negative," Hough, 31, told PEOPLE after Monday's premiere. "This is a safe place for people to learn a new skill and seek redemption or start a new chapter in their life and that's what Ryan is trying to do and I just felt so defensive that someone would try and ruin that for him and for everyone watching, so I took it upon myself to make sure they were escorted out. I wanted to protect my home."
