Smart is going to the first car company which will start selling the car models which will have both EV and gasoline modules in the future. The Daimler owned car maker who makes small two seater cars which are highly fuel efficient is off to provide a more efficient plan to its customers. The company will launch an EV version of Fortwo, Fortwo Cabrio and Forfour in the year 2017, according to TechCrunch.
All of these models will be using the Smart Electric Drive Platform. This platform is built by none other than Mercedes Benz in collaboration with Renault-Nissan.
These small cars won’t be high on mileage. These will give a humble mileage of 99 miles per EP through a 17.6kWh battery. The best thing about these cars is that they will be able to charge in mere 2.5 hours.
The bigger batteries need more time to charge, but these being the small ones take lesser time thus making it more efficient.
The pricing of these cars are not unveiled yet, however we are hoping that Smart will announce them soon. The pricing for gasoline options is available. The first car to arrive from this fleet in the market will be Fortwo Electric Drive. It will be available for sale in market by spring 2017.
While it’s convertible version will be available in the summer next year. These EVs were supposed to be displayed on the Paris Motor Show 2016. They have attracted hundreds of buyers all across the globe due to their cute features, durable nature, high technology and efficient working.
