Legendary Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson visited the Bits & Pretzels 2016 startup festival and he lived to tell about the Oktoberfest.

I saw Sir Richard Branson for the first time up close and in real life at the Bits & Pretzels startup festival. Surprisingly witty and entertaining US journalist Kara Swisher interviewed Branson on stage. As most speakers, he was wearing the traditional Bavarian lederhosen outfit. In a just published blog post, Branson praised how comfortable the lederhosen is to wear.

"I couldn’t resist when my hosts asked me to don a pair of lederhosen, the outfit of choice of pretty much every man I met in Munich, including my own team. I have to say, it’s a pretty comfortable piece of clothing that leaves enough room for your growing bladder after a few of those enormous glasses of beer. I was tempted to wear it for the rest of Strive," Branson explains.

Branson praised the Bits & Pretzels event and regrets to have missed the opening speech of Hollywood star Kevin Spacey on Sunday. Kevin Spacey's speech about story telling was a piece of art. He is an incredible actor with excessive attention to detail. Spacey holds speeches about story telling since 2014. There is no video of Spacey's speech at Bits & Pretzels, but you can get some of his things he talked about from this interview, including the story about how Jack Lemmon became Spacey's mentor.

66-year-old Branson continues with his family and others the grueling Virgin Strive Challenge. I don't think I will ever be as fit as Branson when I'm hitting 66. His fitness and will to suffer is extremely impressive.

About Bits & Pretzels

Beginning as a small breakfast meeting for founders of the Munich startup ecosystem, Bits & Pretzels quickly became one of the most important startup events in Europe hosted by Andreas Bruckschlögl, Bernd Storm van’s Gravesande and Felix Haas. By consistently showing passion, attention-to-detail, and delivering valuable content for startups and investors the event became the 3-day founders festival it is today within less than two years, with the last day being at the famous Oktoberfest. Founded in 2014 Bits & Pretzels takes place every year in Munich. Under the theme “from founders for founders”, the most famous entrepreneurs from all around the world, as well as young ambitious entrepreneurs meet to share and discuss experiences and trends. The first two days will be in the International Congress Center in Munich where participants can enjoy an exciting program with keynote speeches, workshops, panel discussions and a startup competition. Day three houses networking opportunities at the original Oktoberfest where matchmaking in a relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed.

Tickets for Bits & Pretzels 2017 are already on sale. See you there.
