Saturday Night Live is still strong after all these years.

Saturday Night Live opened its 42nd season on Saturday with a bang. Alec Baldwin killed it as Donald Trump in mocking the first presidential debate. Later Larry David did his incredible Bernie Sanders impression. Sexy Margot Robbie hosted the first episode of SNL and The Weeknd was the musical guest. All taken together propelled the SNL Premiere to its highest ratings in 8 years.

SNL averaged a 5.8 household rating, 15 share in the metered markets, up +29% from last year’s 4.5/11 for the Oct. 3, 2015 season-opening telecast.

It’s the highest metered-market household rating for a “Saturday Night Live” season premiere since Sept. 13, 2008, when the telecast hosted by Michael Phelps and featuring musical guest Lil Wayne as well as an appearance by Tina Fey as Gov. Sarah Palin, averaged a 7.5 rating in the metered markets.

National ratings, including viewer totals, for last night’s “Saturday Night Live” are due from Nielsen later today. Watch Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) and Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) face off in the first presidential debate, moderated by Lester Holt (Michael Che) in this Youtube video.

Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to host the Oct. 8 telecast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Miranda, who is making his SNL hosting debut, recently finished his Broadway run as the composer, lyricist and performer in the musical sensation Hamilton.

Twenty One Pilots will make their SNL debut alongside Miranda. The duo (Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun) recently made history becoming the first alternative group ever with two simultaneous singles in the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 — "Ride," from their multi-platinum studio album Blurryface, and Heathens, from "Suicide Squad: The Album.
