BMW i5 Hatchback Revealed in Japan
  • This might be the new BMW i5 Hatchback

The new patent images released by BMW in Japan might be giving us signs of the new and upcoming BMW i5 Hatchback.

BMW just filed for a patent for registration earlier this year which is now published in Japan. The patent gives us a view of an unnamed BMW car which is pretty futuristic to look at. The car is similar to i3 but is longer and much sleeker as well.

The best thing about the patent images, posted by a Canadian car news website Autoguide, are that these show that this car will have not four but five doors, which is the reason that we are hoping this will be a BMW i5 Hatchback which was announced earlier.

We have been hearing all sorts of rumors about the car and according to the German car maker, i5 is on the final stages of styling of the body.

It is believed that it will arrive somewhere in 2020 and will be a strong competitor for Tesla Model 3. The i3 will also compete with Tesla Model 3 but the i5 is supposed to be a sleeker and longer model with almost same features.

BMW has recently also registered for new trademarks of i cars ranging from i1 to i9. This patent might be the part of this i range as well, according to AutoCar.

We are also hoping to see an “I” branded SUV from BMW in the near future though it might be coming later than i5. The SUV is most likely to carry the tag name of i4. However i5 can be used for an SUV too. We can’t say anything with surety until an official word is received from the company itself.

Mercedes has also launched the EQ brand which is going to be a sub brand focusing on electric vehicles. This shows that all major brands are off to showcase some cool EVs in the near future.
