The Boeing company has procrastinated its CST-100 Starliner spacecraft flights with people on board for the second time in a row.
This is the second time that the Boeing company has delayed its CST-100 Starliner flight. This was the first time that there were supposed to be people on board.

These people consisted of the crew that were to operate the spacecraft. This spacecraft had been built for the express purpose of taking NASA astronauts to and back from the ISS.
The Starliner was originally supposed to carry astronauts a year from now. Yet Boeing announced in the sultry month of May this year that it will send astronauts aboard the spacecraft in 2018. That is definitely a change of plan.
The goal was mid-2018 yet now it has been even further delayed to December of 2018, according to AviationWeek via The Verge. Now that is a long way off. Boeing has given the reasons behind this delay as production glitches and qualification tests that need to be carried out in the nick of time.
Also a production hitch forced Boeing to eliminate an important component of the spacecraft. This consisted of a dome that composed the pressure shell of the crew module.
These flaws and problems forced Boeing to further delay the timeline of the Starliner by about half a year or so. When the issues began to crop up, the administration and staff of Boeing took a pause for thought and decided that they were up against a hindrance or two.
They had to do something about it and so the delay was inevitable. This was something which could not be avoided by an ostrich-like head-in-the-sand policy of ignorance.
Other tests still need to be carried out. There is the pad abort test. This has everything to do with crew safety in case of an emergency occurring while the spacecraft is on the launch pad.
This test was supposed to occur by October of next year. Yet now it has been postponed to January of 2018. The Starliner spacecraft is NASA’s answer to the Commercial Crew Program.
The goal is the switching of American astronauts back within the context of national spacecraft. Currently, the United States is dependent upon Russia’s Soyuz modules for sending its astronauts to the ISS.
This trip has a steep price tag since each seat costs $80 million. The US of A is looking forward to the Boeing company to build the Starliner under contract from NASA. This way the United States will once again become autonomous as regards space travel and space exploration.
