Niantic Releases Pokemon Go App 0.41.4 for Android and 1.11.4 for iOS

The new Pokemon Go updates for Android and iOS are now in the respective app stores.

Niantic just announced Pokemon Go 0.41.4 for Android and 1.11.4 for iOS. Niantic announced the new Pokemon Go app updates 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS on October 10. The updates have been available in app stores on October 13. Niantic said on Twitter that the new versions contain minor Pokemon Go fixes.

The Pokemon Go 0.41.4 version has already surfaced yesterday. We have not seen the 1.11.4 version for iOS. So far nobody can pin point any difference or which bugs the new updates have fixed. Niantic is not providing any further details.

The new update of the Pokemon Go app announced on October 10 is containing the new catch bonus and improvements to Gym training. While these are nice features, millions of trainers around the world are still waiting for an in-app Pokemon tracker.

Especially now that Niantic has blocked all 3rd party apps with a new security update to the communication between the Pokemon Go app and the Pokemon Go servers. There is now no real-time Pokemon Go map service available.

The developer of the popular Pokemon Go map service FastPokeMap has taken the lead in reverse engineering the new encryption. He expect to make FastPokeMap work again latest this Saturday. The team working on reverse engineering the latest security update have succeeded to break the encryption. It is apparently based on a pseudorandom number generator.

The Pokemon Go trainer community is not happy to have to play Pokemon Go blind. There are some working Pokemon Go Tracker that are based on crowd-sourced Pokemon spawn locations that can be used, but are not delivering the same experience. Especially trainers in rural areas are left without any viable way to locate Pokemon.

Niantic has still not made any announcements regarding the highly anticipated in-app Pokemon Go tracker. A new statement from a Niantic representative says that Niantic has no plans yet when the in-app tracker currently testing in San Francisco will be released.

“Niantic is still testing a new type of tracking that's geo-locked to San Francisco,” the Niantic representative told polygon. “At this moment, there is no estimated timeline to potentially rolling it out wider.”

It is not clear what is going on. If a 3rd party developer like the one behind FastPokeMap can provide a scalable Pokemon tracker, why can't Niantic. FastPokeMaps has to deal with the new encryption and Captchas. The Pokemon map served up to 15 million users per day. That is about the number of weekly active users Pokemon Go has.

Pokemon Go 0.41.4 for Android and 1.11.4 for iOS Release Notes

Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.

The feature grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.

Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokémon of the same type. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session. When training at a friendly Gym, Trainers will be able to bring six Pokémon to battle instead of one. In addition, the CP of the Pokémon you are training against may be temporarily adjusted lower during your training session to generally match your Pokémon’s battle capabilities.

No matter what your level, you can now have an impact on your team’s Gym. Walk with your Buddy Pokémon to that nearby landmark and show your Team Leader that you can battle with the best!

Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.

Fixed several audio issues.

Decreased the evolution animation time.
