An Amazon Fire Television Set Would Own Black Friday

Apple was long rumored to make a Smart TV. For many reasons it does not make sense for Apple to sell TVs, it would be a thing for Amazon to do.

Amazon sold more then 90,000 TVs on Prime Day in July. The Amazon devices, lead by the new Fire TV stick, dominate the top 10 best selling electronics item on amazon.com. The book seller has become a consumer electronics power house with its line-up of streaming devices, smart assistants, tablets, and ebook reader.

It would be feasible for Amazon to make its own brand TV or even just partner with a TV maker to integrate its Fire TV platform like Roku does with TCL. The Amazon video service is an app on Roku, but a TV with the full Amazon Fire TV functionality would be an interesting products.

The advantage for Amazon to offer its own Smart TV would be the full control of pricing. An Amazon Television could be setting unseen sales records on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While I would not envision a high-end Amazon 4K Ultra HD TV, I could see Amazon be successful with HD TVs in the low-end up to 4K TVs in the mid-range.

The best-selling TV on Amazon.com right now is a 32-inch TCL Roku Smart TV for $168.88. This best-seller could be an Amazon Fire TV Set, if Amazon takes the plunge. Amazon does not have Apple's requirement to only offer high-end displays. This is one of the reasons why an Apple Television is not happening. It would end up super expensive, or without any margins for Apple.

The Amazon devices are going to be a big attraction during the upcoming Amazon Black Friday 2016 sales. An Amazon Television could shake up this Holiday shopping season.
