Hover Camera Selfie Drone Review

The Hover selfie camera drone is on sale since a couple of days. Here are the first reviews of the $549 camera drone.

The Hover Camera, one of the hottest gadgets of 2016, is finally available. The Hover Camera Passport is selling for $549, which is quite steep for a pocket drone. The Hover Camera is though a very nice piece of gadgetry. The 4K video camera drone is able to follow people around with face and body tracking. It can do trajectory filming flights and 360 spins.

I have a Dobby Selfie Drone since several months. ZeroTech has beaten Hover Camera to the market and deliver a selfie drone at a much lower price. The Hover Camera is though more advanced and polished according to the first reviews. The Dobby drone came out with many features disabled, that ZeroTech has delivered in software updates over the summer.

My main issue with the Dobby selfie drone is the dangers of the rotors hitting someone or something. The Hover Camera solved the danger of drones with the foldable cage design. This is especially beneficial when flying indoors and close to kids or pets, if you can get close to a pet. The hover camera is as noisy as the Dobby or any other drone.

The battery life of the Hover Camera is a theoretical 10 minutes. In real tests it is more 8 minutes. This is the same as I get on the Dobby drone. The Hover Camera comes with two batteries out of the box, which is nice. I got a 2nd battery pack for the Dobby for about $50.

The other interesting advantage of the Hover camera over the Dobby drone over is the remote controlled camera mount. You can actual swivel the 4k camera up and down. On the Dobby you can only set it manually.

The Unbox Therapy has just released a Hover Camera video review, that is hitting the major features and also shows off how well design not only the drone is, but also the packaging.

The Hover Camera Passport is one of the hottest gadgets of 2016. We maintain that rating. At $549 (will be $599 soon) it is expensive. You get a big semi-professional drone for the same price.

Drone enthusiast and Youtube star Casey Neistat has also tested the Hover Camera. Watch his video review below.
