Sony PS4 Pro has Best Video Game Graphics not only for 4K Games

The Sony PS4 Pro is not a new video console generation, but makes games look much better.

The Sony PS4 Pro is for the most part not giving you 4K gameplay. The reason for this is that there are almost no 4K games. The Sony PS4 Pro is though doing other things that make most games look much better on the PS4 Pro than on the original PS4.

Sony hardware architect Mark Cerny, who designed the PS4 Pro, has briefed a select group of journalists on the details of how the PS4 Pro is improving the graphics of games. While 4K gameplay is out of reach for most PS4 games, so called checkerboard anti-aliasing is not. Sony is using this improving anti-aliasing method to make games look like they are rendered in 4K.

"PS4 Pro games don't need to go all the way to 3,840x2,160-pixel-resolution 4K or use vast amounts of AA because of a clever trick: developers are using a technique called "checkerboard rendering" to vastly reduce those jagged, shimmering edges. With only half the horizontal resolution -- 1,920x2,160 -- the graphics are nearly indistinguishable at TV viewing distance," said CNet's Sean Hollister, who has been briefed by Mark Cerny this week.

He concludes with "But seeing what I've seen, I can only tell you how I felt: when I walked out of my briefing, I wanted a PS4 Pro."

If you do not care about great image quality than you do not need a new PS4 Pro. If you are they type of gamer who has picked a TV that offers the best display quality for the money, you are want a PS4 Pro. The $100 it costs more than a normal PS4 are worth it.

The Sony PS4 Pro will go on sale on November 10. The $399.99 PS4 Pro 1TB is available for pre-order on
