The Best Toy Robots for Holidays 2016

Toy robots can teach your kids how to program or become their pets. Robots for kids have become dramatically powerful over the past years.

Twelve years ago, me and my friends have been super excited about the WowWee Robosapien toy robot. Fast forward to present day, the Robosapien looks like an ancient dinosaur compared to the toy robots available for the Holidays 2016.

The best of the new toy robots are app controlled and even teach kids how to code. Teaching kids how to code is in my mind one of the most important things parents need to do. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education is essential for navigating the future.

There are many apps including the fantastic Swift Playgrounds from Apple. Especially younger kids respond better to learning when they can touch and play around with something physical. Robots are perfect to teach kids the power of programming.

Wonder Workshop Dash and Dot Robot

Holiday Toy Robot 2016

The Wonder Workshop Dash robot looks like four blue spheres clued together. It can move around and through table tennis balls, all controlled with programs kids put together in an app on a tablet or smartphone. Wonder Workshop developed coding languages uniquely designed for kids ages 6 and up. Kids master this language by transforming robots into ready-to-play pals with code.  With Wonder Workshop and the Dash and Dot Robots, every kid has the building blocks to push the boundaries of what is possible.

The $49.99 Wonder Workshop Dot comes with hundreds of exciting coding adventures and projects available in Wonder and Blockly apps. Kids program Dot's lights, sounds, and sensors in the apps and see Dot come to life.

The Wonder Workshop Dash is a robot for children ages 8 and up that is responsive to its world. your child can bring it to life with our free apps available on iOS and Android. Dash comes with hundreds of exciting coding adventures and projects available in Wonder and Blockly apps. The Dash has an MSRP of $149.99, but is on sale on Amazon.com for $133.79.

The complete Wonder Workshop robot set that also includes both robots and accessories including the ball launcher accessory sells for $279.99.

Coji Coding Robot

Coji

The Coji the coding robot teaches your child the basics of programming using a language they already know: Emojis! This educational toy challenges kids with skill-testing games that encourage critical thinking.

Your child will have fun stringing emojis together using the app to solve problems and control Coji's actions. When lesson time is over, kids can drive Coji around using a compatible tablet or smartphone as a remote control. This interactive robot from WowWee is also tons of fun without the app: Coji reacts to physical stimulation such as tilting and shaking and it's simply hilarious. "LOL" as Coji steals your "heart" says the robot description. The Coji coding robot is recommended for kids age 6 to 8.

One oft the most attractive things about the Coji Coding robot is its low price. The Coji is on sale for only $45.99 at walmart.com.
