The Pokemon tracker FastPokeMap is back as of Sunday, October 23.

The real-time Pokemon Go tracker FastPokeMap is working again after being offline for two weeks because of Niantic's new security measures. The team around the FastPokeMap developer has managed to reverse engineer the new encryption algorithms and is again able to directly connect to Pokemon Go servers.

Update 10/26: Niantic has released a new security measure causes FastPokeMap to shut down for several days

The Pokemon Go scans are still spotty says the developer, but I just tested several locations and FastPokeMap shows lots of Pokemon nearby anywhere I point the map to. As more trainers will find out that FastPokeMap works again the load will increase on the new implementation. Only time will tell if the solution FastPokeMap built is scalable.

Besides the new encryption that took over two weeks to break, real-time Pokemon scanner also need to handle Captchas. This seems to be currently handled through a captcha solving service, which is an additional cost factor running FastPokeMap. The captchas might become a problem the more popular FastPokeMap will become again.

FastPokeMap is not working at its full potential because of the new 30mph limitation that has legit trainers get mad at Niantic. As expected it is something that is aimed at crippling real-time Pokemon Go scanners. The developer behind FPM says that he will need to devise a scanning strategy that works around this limitation. A solution is supposed to come Monday. FastPokeMap has already deployed a fix for the 30mph speed limit. The speed limit imposed by Niantic last week turned out not to be big problem for 3rd party Pokemon Go trackers.

You can find nearby Pokemon in real-time on FastPokeMap.se.

The new Pokemon Go API will be released to the public, once it is completely finished. There is still a hashing function that is not completely reverse engineered yet. The current solution requires to run Pokemon Go app binaries in an ARM emulator.

This means that soon Pokemon Go bots will be live again. There will be less botters now as the effort to run a Pokemon Go bot have increased. It is not only the new encryption that has to be implemented, but also the Captcha solving.

Niantic is expected to release a major update to Pokemon Go still this year. The in-app Pokemon tracker and trading are on the list of predicted new features.

FastPokeMap took over where PokeVision stopped after Niantic has shut it down. The FastPokeMap scanner served millions of users per day before Niantic switched on the new security on October 7. As the interest in Pokemon Go has continued to decline, it remains to be see how many Pokemon Go players will come back to FastPokeMap. More Pokemon Go News.
