Pokemon Go Tracker FastPokeMap Has Shutdown For Now

The popular Pokemon Go tracker is offline again for at least several days.

Update: FastPokeMap relaunched again on November 2. The issues that made the real-time Pokemon Go scanner instable have been resolved.

FastPokeMap is not working anymore. The developer behind the FastPokeMaps service, which was the only real-time Pokemon Go scanner working again after Niantic's October 7 security update has shut down the service due to severe instability.

There have been several days of the Pokemon tracker being up and down. FastPokeMap has relaunched with the cracked security on October 23.

The developer said on Discord that he he is taking down the site until he can stabilize the service. "Due to recent event in my life recently I have to take some time off from FPM. We will come back. The api is out now so hopefully other site will thrive now. FPM will come back after the events have calmed down. I'm all for a concurrent/another service showing up while we're down. Having a monopoly was never my goal So they can experience the stress i've been experiencing," he explained the decision to shut down FastPokeMap.

"And I don't want to leave a service working at 10% that crashes every 10min because people scrap us up. I'm gonna wait a bit and come back when I see how other services are gonna handle the speed limit. I thought about a few solutions on how to solve the post update issues and spawnscanning won't work for FPM either since it's a worldwide site," he added.

The scanning method of FastPokeMap changed last week to spawn point based scanning. Apparently that did not proof to be a viable route.

Besides technical issues caused by the speed limitations of how fast you can go to see Pokemon Spawns, the developer got exposed to a lot of hate by the 3rd party developer community by not releasing the new Pokemon Go API. Besides DDoS attacks and scraping FPM's data, at some point the FastPokeMap source code got leaked. Yesterday the developer released the Pokemon Go API to the developer community, with a statement to leave the Pokemon Go developer community.

So it is back to the Pokemon Go Halloween event without any real-time Pokemon tracker. If there will be another Pokemon Go scanner besides FastPokeMap remains to be seen. So far no service or app has come forward.

Things can change in a matter of hours with FastPokeMap. Nothing is set in stone, but right now the Pokemon Go tracker is not working and the developer is taking a wait and see approach. More Pokemon News.
