Multiple sources are reporting this morning that fantasy sports websites DraftKings and FanDuel, the prominent names in Fantasy gameplay, are headed toward a merger.

The two websites are in a very serious conversation about teaming up, which could give them an almost monopoly on the industry. A report from ESPN said that the deal was "imminent" though according to some other sources, there are still some things to iron out.

Probably one of the things that they are talking over is who will become the CEO of the new joint venture. DraftKings CEO Jason Robins and FanDuel CEO Nigel Eccles have been very vocal about their dislike each other in the previous years. Obvious that has been work through as they are working together now, but it could cause problems

Another reason is because there are legal battles within certain states to see if they can have gambling or whether they are operating a gambling business or a game of skill.

Recode received the following statement from DraftKings:

"As we have stated previously, a potential combination would be interesting to consider. However, as a matter of policy, we don't comment on rumors or speculation, and there can be no assurances at this time that any discussion about a combination would result in an agreement or merger."
