Shay Mitchell’s Farewell Video for Pretty Little Liars is Giving Us the Feels

Shay Mitchell’s emotional and overwhelming farewell video makes her and us cry for the end of Pretty Little Liars

People have had a lot of emotion this year as some of the most fan favourite shows announced their last seasons. Among them was the fan loved Pretty Little Liars. Winning the Teen Choice Award earlier this year again was proof the secrets and lies among five friends could never get old for the audience.

The show however announced that the show’s next season will be its last. While the fans might be having a hard time coming to terms with the end of the show, it might be harder still for the cast of the show.

Especially the like of the original characters of the friends that the story is focused on including Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse.

The girls have been sharing the last days of the shooting of the last season on their Instagram and other social media sites. They shared a picture of a tattoo that they all got as a reminder. They have all shared their goodbyes to the show as they finish up the shoots.

The latest farewell came from Shay Mitchell who plays Emily Fields on the show. The Canadian actress’ video was shot at 12:38 a.m. and the caption described that they had wrapped up the show forever. Shay, seated before a camera placed in perhaps her dressing room, already looked teary eyed.

With a coat draped around her shoulders, she held her phone on which she might have written out what she was going to say in the video. From the start, we got the feeling that it was going to be hard for her and us to watch.

She started by saying, "Sad, anxious, excited, terrified, inspired, gratified, nervous, unsure, proud, upset, accomplished, relieved, devastated, lucky: I didn't know it was possible to feel so much at once, yet I sit here with all my feelings. It feels like the last day of school with just an extra bit of emptiness.

Our show ending is such a weird, unique thing that I have only experienced from where you all are sitting: the viewer's side. I remember shows I watched growing up ending and all that came along with a series finale, yet where I am seated now is so different.” she held back her tears before continuing, I don't know what my life would've looked like without Pretty Little Liars.”

She continued that the show had changed her in more ways that she could attempt to count. She enlisted all the opportunities that she had found from the show. She said that she had been able to follow her passion of acting.

She said that the whole experience on the show and playing Emily Fields is an experience she thinks could not be topped. She remembered the time that they had shot the pilot in Vancouver where they were freezing in the barn scene.

She said that she could not believe that the best seven years of her life had passed the quickest and she had seen the cast and the team of the show grow and flourish, not only as actors but as people. People who had found love and success and made her a better person for being with them.

She said that while on set she would remember her life before the show when she was attending acting school and all life’s little things. She almost broke down in front of the camera, she said she always used to look at her goals for life and then in an instant she would be on the show and its world.

She said that the crew has been her family since day one. She had seen their families grow with each passing season and they had been with them through good and bad. She said that they had given more to her than they will ever know, teaching her so much about making good TV.

She then called out to her co-stars, calling them her ‘sisters’; Ashely, Sasha, Lucy and Troian, she said that they did it. She said that their characters will now go the same place that the characters went when people stopped writing for them. She remembered all the iconic moments and scenes of the girls and how they will be no more.

She said that she hoped that their characters will remain a constant in each other’s life as she hoped that they would in their real life. She said that they had been with each other through everything and their bond was special. She was lucky to have known them.

She also thanked the writers of the show for their brilliant work. She thanked the women who gave her the chance on the show. She thanked them for giving her the role of Emily which she would miss the most.

She ended with a quote she had received in a text, “So I close my eyes to old ends and open my heart to new beginnings. She said that that was what she was going to do. She thanked the fans for loving and supporting the show.
