The unthinkable just happened. The Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series.

Bill Murray knew it all along. The Cubs won the 2016 World Series. Chicago's Major league Baseball team had to wait an unbelievable 108 years to win the World Series championships again. To not win the World Series in over a century has been a running gag now for a very long time. Now the spell is over.

"It was like a heavyweight fight, man," said Ben Zobrist, who was named World Series MVP. "Just blow for blow, everybody playing their heart out. The Indians never gave up either, and I can't believe we're finally standing, after 108 years, finally able to hoist the trophy," the Cubs site reports.

The Cubs won 103 games and are the third team in Wild Card era (since 1995) to have baseball's best outright regular-season record and win the World Series. They join the 1998 and 2009 Yankees.

Chicago will have a reportedly big celebration of the Cubs historical win on Friday. Even if you are not a fan of Baseball, this is one of the biggest sports stories of the year or even the past decades.
