This year’s SEMA has seen a number of cool and customized car at the event, there are so many more to come as well. The SEMA 2016 show has showcased the Ford Maverick which is customized by Sung Kang.

Kang is a Fast and Furious star who had been preparing the 1972 Ford Maverick from a long time. He had given it the name “Project Underdog,” according to AutoBlog. This car is Kang’s second biggest project after the Fugu Z which was revealed earlier on.

The car was supposed to get a conventional V8 engine but the artist decided to go with 2.3 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine from the famous Ford Mustang. He said that it is a tribute to the original Ford Maverick of Brazil that was offered in four cylinder.

The turbo charged engine is not the only unique thing about this Ford Maverick. It has gotten the Mustang’s manual Six-transmission as well. The customized Ford Maverick has been given a new body kit too which is designed by Rocket Bunny who is a kit designer. It has also gotten a Maverick Grabber-style hood and a truck lid that is made of carbon fiber only.

This project has another reason for being a real deal as well. The project was completed with the help of students of Alhambra High School which is located in California. The students have done a tremendous job in getting the job done while finishing the car.

Along with that they will be given money from the price of auction of this car. This money will be funded for their college tuitions. The funds collected from the sale of this car will also go into the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.
