Apple Has a Black Friday Sale on MacBook Pro USB-C Adapters and Monitors

What just happened? The new MacBook Pro is not selling well? Or is it just pure kindness from Apple's side?

Apple unveiled the new MacBook Pro with the quirky Touch Bar on October 27. The new MacBook Pro is thinner, has a better screen, is more powerful and only has USB-C connectors. The latter has apparently caused many Mac fans to refrain from ordering the latest and greatest from Apple. If you own Thunderbolt 2, Digital AV, VGA and USB devices that you rely on, you need USB-C adapters to connect them to the new MacBook Pro.

The USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 adapter has a price-tag of $49 at the Apple store and a simple USB to USB-C Adapter costs $19. A new MacBook Pro purchases can quickly cause over $100 more spending on adapters. Now Apple reacted and as of Friday, November 4, Mac fans get a Black Friday and Holiday sale until the end of 2017 on USB-C adapters. Apple cuts prices by up to $20.

USB-C Adapter Deals

$9 USB-C to USB Adapter

$29 USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter

$49 USB to VGA Multiport Adapter

$29 USB-C to Lightning Cable

$19 USB-C to Lightning Cable

These prices are valid from October 27. This means if you bought an USB-C adapter already, you get a price adjustment from Apple. The discounts on the USB-C adapters are not the only deals for MacBook Pro customers. Apple also cuts the prices of the new LG UltraFine 4K and UtraFine 5K displays designed for the new MacBook Pro.

The LG UltraFine 4K Display is on sale now for $524 instead of $699.95 and the high-end LG UltraFine 5K Display sells for $974 instead of $1,299.95 until December 31. The LG 5K MacBook Pro display is sold out in the Apple online store as of writing this report.

While the price cut is great for customers, it leaves a bit of questionable impression. A new Mac should just sell by itself. The reality is that I look at my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro and I feel no need to upgrade and get me a 2016 MacBook Pro. If you need a new laptop, MacBook Pros are awesome. You going to have them for a very long time.

My recommendation is to save the money on the Touch Bar models, and invest it in more performance in the new MacBook Pro without Touchbar starting at $1,499. Read here why.
