McDonald's is FINALLY getting into the mobile ordering and paying market, meaning that customers will be able to use their smartphones to order and pay for food, which will streamline the process, according to Business Insider.

You won't be able to use this until next year, when people in the US, Australia, France, Canada, and the UK will be able to use it at some 25,000 restaurant locations. Mobile ordering has helped many fast food restaurants with their traffic, though McDonald's has been lagging behind. Starbucks, in particular, has had huge success.

It will benefit the chains, the workers, and the customers because it will improve accuracy, speed up serving times, and can even offer up specials.

McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook has been planning on mobile ordering for a long time so that people can order when they want and know when they can expect their order to be finished. It has been tested in almost two dozen locations in Georgia.

When Starbucks launched their mobile ordering, 25% of customers have picked up on it to pay and 6% use it to pay ahead. In high traffic times, that makes everything easier.

Even without mobile ordering, McDonald's has 14 million app downloads, which has offered up some great information to the company. This app could do the same, and make it easier to help with staffing.
