iPhone SE Refresh may not happen in Early 2017
 

No new iPhone SE in 2017!

KGI securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has made a comeback with news regarding the iPhone SE. His note was issued to analysts stating his belief that Apple will not be issuing a refresh of the iPhone SE this coming March.

He has also mentioned in his note that Apple will not consider to discontinue this device immediately. This 4- inch device will have its life cycle increased instead of the usual 12 month period.

This is a move to increase gross margin specifically at this time when iPhone sales are seemingly starting to flag. Apple also does not want its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus sales to be effected too.

The original iPhone SE set was launched earlier this year in March. This was a phone aimed to target the price savvy customers and the emerging economies. Apple usually has a tradition to update its iPhone on a 12 month cycle basis.

As per this trend many believed that Apple would release a new version of the iPhone SE in the coming March of 2017. However, as per Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions this will not be happening.

Apart from maintaining the current iPhone SE Apple is taking other measures to increase profit. It is pressurizing component manufactures to reduce the price. This step is certainly not in the interest of manufacturers but it will be effective in reducing the supply chain costs for Apple.

Ming-Chi Kuo has also made some shipment estimations in the note as well. He estimates Apple to move 40 to 50 million devices this quarter. This figure is less than the 51.2 million units sold last year. The same negative project
