John Boyega revealed in one of his interviews that auditioning for the role of Finn in Star Wars VIII while Daisy Ridley did not go through so much rigor.

One thing is for sure, the revival of the Star Wars franchise was one of the iconic events in cinematic history. So many actors wanted to be a part of it and many turned out to audition. SNL even made a sketch about several people auditioning for the part.

There is one certain Oscar winning actor who actually went to audition for a part and the part of Kylo Ren no less. Eddie Redmayne revealed in an interview with Uproxx that he went to audition for the part.

In the days prior to his Oscar glory, Eddie was just another actor looking to be a part of the next big things and Star Wars might have seemed like it. He revealed that his audition however did not pan out so well. in his words, he had a “catastrophically bad” audition.

He recalled in the interview that they gave him like Star Trek scene something more like a scene from Pride and Prejudice. He said that it was one of those top secret films that they keep under covers so they don’t reveal the script for the auditions.

Instead they give the actors a scene from Pride and Prejudice. Then they told him that he was auditioning for the villain. He said that “If you’re me, you then put some ridiculous voice on.” That I what he did.

He said that Nina Gold who had cast him in some other great parts was taking his audition which made it all the more hilarious. He failingly tried to give his audition with different versions of his kind of ‘koohh paaaah’ [Darth Vader breathing sound] voice.

He said that after almost 10 shots Nina asked him if he had anything else?’ and he said no. Suffice to say, he didn’t get the part. Adam Driver was cast to play the iconic villain and the rest is history.

Eddie should not fret though, he is now the leading man of the most anticipated latest franchises in the world, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
