USA Network Orders the Pilot for Unsolved based on Tupac Shakur and Biggie Small Murders

FX’s People vs. O.J. Simpson became the notorious hit of the year 2015 and became this year’s biggest Emmy winner collecting major awards in acting categories.

The success of the crime based drama led many networks to delve into the crime genre, especially shows that will be based on popular true events.

That might have been the intention of the USA Network when they have ordered the pilot of the new show Unsolved. The pilot will based on the scripted true crime serial that chronicles the two major police investigations into the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur.

Something to look forward to is the news that the director of the FX’s “People vs. O.J. Simpson” Anthony Hemingway is set to direct and executive produce Unsolved, according to Deadline.

Hemingway received a directing Emmy nomination and shared the Outstanding Limited Series Emmy for People v. O.J. Simpson. The show will be scripted by Kyle Long.

The show will be produced from Universal Cable Productions and it will be based on the experiences of former LAPD Detective Greg Kading, author of the book ‘Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations’ Kading led multiple law-enforcement task forces investigating the murders.

Shakur and B.I.G aka Biggie Small were involved in a bitter feud when Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas in 1996 and Biggie was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles six months later.

Anthony Hemingway and Mark Taylor will executive produce the show with their Hemingway | Taylor production company, along with Long. Kading will be a consultant on the pilot script and also serve as co-executive producer.
