The first SNL Show after Trump's election was possibly the most serious SNL episode in the history.

Last night's SNL episode opened with a Hallelujah. Kate McKinnon, in the character of Hillary Clinton, sang Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. She performed the song playing on a piano. It was beautiful and sad at the same time.

The legendary poet and singer Leonard Cohen died last week. Kate McKinnon ended her performance of Hallelujah with "I'm not giving up and neither should you. And live from New York, it's Saturday night." Watch McKinnon's emotional performance of Hallelujah below.

Dave Chappelle's monologue was no laughing matter either. He was not prepared for a Trump President, he said. He wants to give Trump a chance and he expects Trump to give all of black America a chance too.

Chapelle hit hard on the issues America is facing with pointed commentary. He talked about the shootings that Americans face everyday and the ISIS threat. There are certainly lighter topics for an SNL monologue, but we do not expect anything different from Chappelle after the dramatic Presidential election.

Last week Benedict Cumberbatch kept SNL on the light humor. Chappelle also commented on the demonstrations against Trump. Watch below the last minutes of Chapelle's monologue.

Chris Rock joined Chappelle in a skit explaining why Americans voted for Trump and not for Clinton. Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock together on SNL is hard to top. Dave Chappelle brought back some of his classic characters in the Walking Dead skit, trending on reddit.

The clips of the November 13 SNL episode will hit Youtube in the next hours. The SNL app will also have the clips including Chappelle's full monologue. The musical guests have been A Tribe Called Quest.

43-year-old Dave Chappelle has risen to nation-wide fame with his sketch comedy television series Chappelle's Show, which launched in 2003. He has been doing stand-up on a regular basis and In 2015, Chappelle appeared in the Spike Lee film, Chi-Raq. SNL airs Saturdays at 11:30pm ET on NBC.
