Future Lenovo Handsets Will Now Carry ‘Moto’ Tag

A detailed report has been released in China. The report confirms that Lenovo will be giving up its name on its handsets. Instead, all of its handsets will be branded with the ‘Moto’ label.

This step can be seen as good move after the 2014 acquisition of Moto. Especially when a report back in May moved us by stating Lenovo admit that it was expecting more from the take over and was disappointed by results so far. Apart from the branding change another change has also been incorporated.

The company is now replacing Xudong Chen as co-president and SVP of Lenovo’s Mobile Business group with Gina Qiao. Gina Qiao has a strong profile. She was the senior vice president of human resources previously.

Currently she holds the HR title. She has also been appointed as the chief strategy officer and head of marketing of the company before. As the Lenovo says a goodbye to its old naming, one can wonder if we will see names such as ‘Phab’ and ‘Vibe’ any more.

The report does not give more details. It is still unclear as to what Lenovo has in mind for its line-up of devices. Nevertheless the interest in Motorola seems to be a good move. We can’t just forget this was the company which gave the first DROID devices, Moto 360, Moto X and so much more. It would be unfair to see it vanish so soon.
