  • Things Remain for the Worst in the New Episode of The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead new episode gives us an episode worth of Negan’s cruelty and Rick’s helplessness

People were expecting a lot from this week’s episode of The Walking Dead. After an election that has put the country through so much ordeal, they were looking to the show to vent. The episode ‘Service’ ended up being somewhat of a drag instead of a refresher.

The episode made the audience endure more than an hour of Negan. It was all about Negan and his Saviors. We see them ravaging the town of Alexandria.

Rick and crew are tagalongs in the worst sense. As they cannot participate in the violent Saviors’ rage in town, they are treated as the help. Rick accompanies Negan while Daryl, who is still getting beat up, is at the mercy of Dwight.

We see the Saviors going house to house and collecting all sustenance including guns. Everyone looks to Rick to come up with some master plan to help them get out of Negan’s control.

Rick seems to have given up. Just to showcase that, there is a scene in which Negan hands him Lucille, his barbed wire bat which Rick carries around for him all day while Negan walks just few inches away from him. It signified that Rick had given up his will to Negan completely.

The one interesting thing the audience got to see in the episode was Father Gabriel smartly hiding the absence of Maggie by pretending that she's dead and buried.

Whilst that happens, the audience cringe to Negan. While the show creators and writers might have been trying to emphasize the terror that is Negan, they somehow did not deliver.

Negan has only come off as lazy and boring save that first episode. The only hopeful prospect is that Negan might be meeting his match in the next few episodes.
