The genius physicist, Stephen Hawking declared recently that humanity will not survive another millennium on the planet.

The super genius physicist Stephen Hawking is wheelchair-bound and immobile for all purposes yet his mind runs the gamut of the entire universe. He recently called for humankind to leave the planet and fly off into outer space.

Hawking clearly said that our thriving days on this vulnerable planet were limited. We have to search elsewhere for a better planet. It is a clarion call for the colonization of space.

Yet despite the pessimistic ivory tower thinking, he did introduce a note of hope in the overall lecture he delivered. Hawking reminded the people to look at the stars instead of looking down, the Daily Express reported.

This is an automatic thing that if you slumped your shoulders and were downcast, you would fall into an endless depression. Yet if you just looked up at the sky, you cannot be depressed even if you wanted to be so.

Hawking urged the young and old to keep their sense of wonder intact. They ought to question everything. Furthermore, they ought to remain curious and renew their exploratory drive.

Hawking also told humanity not to ever give in. Till the last moment, mankind should fight and rage against the dying light. To stick to the tried and tested was a form of doom.

It should be left behind in favor of the move to fresher pastures. While Hawking is a physicist by profession, he has commented on other aspects of society.

Among some of the topics of interest that Stephen Hawking has dealt with in his talks are global warming, food supply and runaway demographics. He has also voiced his concern over Brexit which he says points in the direction of individualism and isolation.

The man said that we need to ponder the points that face us as a society that has gone global. It is not just a case of the West and the rest but a case of all of humanity acting in unison.

To think and focus on the basics is a difficult job but that is the only way that lies ahead of us. We cannot go backwards. That way leads straight to the beasts.

Ultimately we will have to evolve for the better and learn to share our resources. Hawking was all for cooperation instead of competition. The latter led to trouble and created divisive forces in society.
