The all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf 2017 model was just revealed at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The new 2017 version is a revised all-electric model and comes with 50% more range.

The new and updated version of Golf can make up a distance of over 186 miles on a single. The range has been confirmed by the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) tests. According to VW in real world settings the car can cover even up to 124 miles or more.

The 2017 e-Golf has been equipped with a 35.8kWh lithium-ion battery which can provide power up to 24.2kWh. Such power makes the new e-Golf capable of producing more than 134 horse power and about 214lb ft of torque.

VW claims the e-Golf’s battery can be charged up to more than 80% capacity in just over an hour. Such fast charging is possible due to a 40kW fast charger, while other cars in the same class have the 7.2kW chargers. All in all the e-Golf can be easily charged to 100% in less than six hours.

The straight-line performance of the e-Golf is further improved from its predecessor with a 0-62mph dash taking only 9.6 seconds. This makes the 2017 e-Golf eight tenths of a second quicker than before. Similarly the Top speed is now 93 mph. the cockpit is also equipped with the latest in car tech.

Volkswagen also announced they will make the new e-Golf at their facility in Dresden. The e-Golf will be produced there from April 2017. A year ago VW spent 20 million Euro to convert the facility into an exhibit but now it will once again start production of the new e-Golf.
