  • Teenage Daughter who had Cancer was Cryogenically Frozen despite Father’s Apprehension

A teenage daughter who had cancer was cryogenically frozen on her request. This was despite her father’s apprehension that she would be brought to life 200 years later and have no one to take care of her.

The father of a 14 year old girl who had cancer was afraid that after she was cryogenically frozen she would wake up 200 years from the present time and be all alone without any recollection of what had happened. Furthermore, he feared that she would not have anybody to take care of her.

The teenager died a month back and she was placed in a cryostat. This tank had a temperature of -196 Celsius. This poor child was the source of much chagrin on the parts of her parents who were divorced.

A legal battle took place between her mother and father. While her mother (like the daughter) wanted her to be frozen in the hope that one day she would be brought back to life.

Her father had other thoughts though. Since he himself was suffering from cancer, he felt her pain. He refused to allow her to go through the process. This was partly due to the high price and also due to the sheer brutality of the process.

According to DailyMail, he said that even if the process was successful what sort of strange brutal world will she face when she comes to life 200 years from now.

She will have no family members who will survive that late in the future and besides, she will not have any memory bank to rely on. He said that his little girl will be left all alone in a country like the United States so far off in the future. It was a dangerous thing to do and he was fearful for his daughter.

The judge who passed the verdict was termed a hero by the teenager though. He agreed to her wish to be cryogenically frozen before her demise.

Even her father was convinced in the end despite his apprehension. He said in a matter of fact way that if this was her decision than who was he to contradict her.

His daughter had written a moving letter before her death expressing her wish to be cryogenically frozen. She said that she was so afraid of being buried beneath the ground.

She wanted to live despite falling a victim to cancer. After the judge gave the verdict, both parents of the teenager accepted the decision. The father had his doubts but he laid them to rest seeing that it was his daughter whose wish it had been all along.
