Gigi Hadid gets thwarted on Twitter for doing an impression of the next First Lady Melania Trump.

It was a night of firsts for Gigi Hadid at the American Music Awards. The 21 year old model took the hosting duties for the award ceremony where the best of American music is celebrated. Stunning in a white lace, off shoulder dress on the red carpet, she changed into a bedazzled red, thigh slit dress for her opening. Hosting alongside SNL’s Jay Pharoah, she was inspired to impersonate one very important personality.

Melania Trump. The next First Lady of the country and the wife of the controversial President-Elect Donald Trump.

The young model said to Jay that she had the Melania expression down. She turned saying that she had to get the face right. When she turned to the crowd, she made a face which was between a pout and duck face but it looked puckered up like Melania Trump’s.

She then spoke in a fake Slovenian accent, “I love my husband, President Barack Obama. And our children Sasha and Malia”. It was a throwback at the speech that Melania plagiarized from Michelle Obama on the first RNC rally.

While Jay declared her impersonation on the spot and the crowd laughed, the audience at home were not impressed. Gigi’s impersonation got a severe backlash from a lot of people on Twitter, according to The Mirror.

Calling out to her on different accusations of being racist, disrespectful and with some people even advising her to stick to modelling; it is a safe assumption that her impression of Melania Trump did not sit well with the American population.

The model was however busy concentrating on other things on the show including her stunning wardrobe changes and her boyfriend Zayn winning an AMA. She can however expect a demand for apology from Donald Trump soon for ‘bullying’ his wife, Melania Trump.
