Mercedes Has No Plans for an AMG Variant of Upcoming X-Class Pickup Truck
  • Mercedes-Benz X Class Won’t make Way for an AMG Truck

The Rumors of a new Mercedes-AMG Raptor Fighter won’t come true any time soon.

It was rumored and hoped by many that the upcoming Mercedes X Class might serve as a replacement for the AMG G63. However there is no truth in this rumor as there won’t be a Mercedes AMG variant offered in the form of a Mercedes Benz X Class truck. This news was confirmed by Motoring and was verified by their source at Mercedes AMG.

According to Motoring, the head of AMG Tobias Moers spoke to the Motoring representative in Los Angeles Motor Show 2016. When was asked about the Mercedes Benz X Class variant of the AMG truck, he said that Mercedes is actually not looking for any kind of variant of AMG in X-Class.

He also said that this kind of project might not gather a lot of interest from the people that can actually result in loss of profits. He also added that such a vehicle might not even add up on the AMG line up.

If we look at the deeper level, it can be seen that Mercedes did not have a lot of input in the makeup of X-Class. The exterior and designing was all done by Merc designers but the mechanical running gear, chassis and structure of the vehicle all came from the Nissan Navara. The most power possible truck could be bought in the form of a truck having 3.0 liter turbo diesel V6 engine.

This news was kind of anticipated by the US buyers. Thus they can now say that there won’t be an AMG-Raptor Fighter concept Truck coming their way.
