  • Selena Gomez Gives a Heartfelt Acceptance Speech on First AMA win

Selena Gomez talks about her career and her journey and priorities while accepting her first AMA.

Her appearance alone was surprising for all her fans and the music industry. Selena Gomez made her re-appearance on the American Music Awards red carpet after she had taken a hiatus to rehab suffering from lupus.

The 24 year old singer dazzled in a floor length red gown with a low ponytail and light makeup. She was one of the best dressed celebrities of the night. She dazzled even more when she made her way to the stage to receive the award for the Best Pop/Rock Artist Female category.

Based on her album Revival, her Revival tour and her Most Instagram likes this year, Selena Gomez has become one the most followed and loved artists in the country.

On the AMA stage after two years, Selena decided to be vulnerable again. She performed her hit single “Heart Wants What it Wants” the last time, ending in tears, EW reported.

A bit more composed this time, Selena said; ““I think it’s safe to say that all of you know my life whether I like it or not. I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here [holds chest]. I’m not trying to get validation nor do I need it anymore.”

Gomez then thanked fans for staying “loyal” to her during her break. “If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken,” Her speech was received with loud applause.

She was also later supported and loved by her fellow artists. Many took to Twitter to declare their love and support for Selena including Lady Gaga who posted a picture of them both on Instagram.
