  • NextEV Unveils the NIO EP9 electric supercar – the world’s fastest electric car

Nio EP9 has the horsepower of 1360bhp to consider.

NextEV, the Chinese Electric vehicle company has come with a new car which will be a 1360bhp supercar. The supercar is introduced under the new subdivision called Nio. Nio will showcase limited run 1360bhp EP9.

The Nio EP9 is going to be a two seater supercar with all-wheel drive. Along with that it will have four inboard electronic motors and gearboxes. The gearboxes and electric motors are developed with the help of NextEV’s Formula E team. This car will have the ability to go from 0-60mph in mere 2.7 seconds. The top speed of Nio EP9 is going to be 194mph.

NextEV has claimed that this new car has completed the lap at Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 5.12 seconds. This number is only 8 seconds lower than that of Porsche 918 Spyder’s own lapping time at the same venue. The previous fastest electric vehicle that mapped the lap in 17 seconds was Toyota TMH EV P001.

According to the company, Nio EP9 has the ability to offer a downforce, twice than that of F1 car. The force that E9 is able to deliver is actually equal to 24,000 Newton at 148mph. it weighs 1735kgs and the two motor which are made of lithium ion batteries are indirectly cooled by water. The batteries of Nio EP9 take 45 minutes to get fully charged and has the range of 265 miles upon fully charged.

According to the company, only 6 variants of Nio EP9 will be built. These cars will be built in order to promote the idea of latest technology that can be used in Electric vehicles, especially super cars.

In a statement during the launch event, US CEO of NextEV, Padmasree Warrior, said, “In the past, cars gave people the freedom of mobility. In the future, cars will go one step further and give people the freedom of time. It’s a future we’re excited to shape.”

This model will be preceded by a mass produced EV in China starting from year 2017. It is rumored that it will arrive in US, Europe and Britain as well.
