  • Microsoft makes an even Stronger Commitment towards Quantum Computing

Microsoft has made an even stronger commitment towards research regarding quantum computing.

Microsoft is making a dash for its quantum computing experiments. It wants to excel in this field. The firm is going to specialize and make bets regarding this endeavor. The goal is a scalable quantum computer that employs a topological qubit.

Todd Holmdahl who has a history of starting such extreme projects and then making them come to life will be overseeing all this. Scalable quantum hardware and software are what this is all about.

He said recently that the people at Microsoft are ready to make the leap of faith from pure R&D to practical engineering. He has played a crucial role in the development of Xbox, Kinect and HoloLens.

Yet despite his achievements, he concurs that there is no guarantee of the project being a success. It is all trial and error. However, he also states the obvious that the company has had a long streak of luck regarding this sort of miracle inventing.

It thus might just succeed this time around too. A modicum of risk-taking is a vital ingredient of the process. As the saying goes…nothing ventured, nothing gained.

At the current stage in Microsoft’s evolution, it can possibly manage this quantum computing job. It will take all it has got. Yet the extra effort will have been worth it in the end. Two leaders in this field have already been hired for the sake of finishing this job.

They have the talent and the brains to see to it that the work gets done and the final result is forthcoming. While they will be working for Microsoft, they will also continue to keep their posts at their respective universities.

The building of Microsoft quantum labs is the ultimate objective. It is a lofty and grand goal only worthy of a huge conglomerate like Microsoft.

The two leaders who have been chosen have said that joining forces with Microsoft is a dream come true and that they will be looking forward to working diligently for Microsoft.

One of them stated that it was pretty exciting to know that he would be working in tandem with Microsoft. The other one even mentioned that during the leisure time that will be a part of the job, he would take walks down the beach. The engineering will be hard core and it will pay off in the end in the form of many dividends.
