Gigi Hadid posts a hand written explanation and apologizes to anyone she might have offended with her Melania Trump impression.

The internet was in a roar on Sunday night come Monday about Gigi Hadid’s very loud impression of the First Lady Elect, Melania Trump. The 21 year old model was hosting the American Music Awards on Sunday with SNL’s alum Jay Pharoah.

At the start of the show, both the hosts launched into a monologue including some puns, jokes and impersonations and announcing the performances of the night.

Gigi started the impression gig after cracking a joke on Drake and Meek Mill. She turned around to flaunt her Melania Trump face which consisted of a duck pout.

She then said in a loud Slovenian accented voice, “I love my husband President Barack Obama and our children, Sasha and Malia” It was a pun at Melania’s plagiarism of Michelle Obama’s speech.

As the show and Gigi’s costumes moved on, the viewers of the show were not happy. Trump and non-Trump supporters alike commented and dissed Gigi for making fun of Melania.

She was called out on making fun of her accent, disrespecting the future First Lady and even being a racist. Many fans also said that they were second hand embarrassed.

Gigi might have just gotten time to read all the tweets and she took it upon herself to post the image of a hand written message on Twitter.

The message read, “I was honored to host the AMAs last night and to work with some of the most respected writers in the business.”

Hadid further wrote, “I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent. I too have been the center of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions and was able to find the humor in it. I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run. I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country.”

She signed it at the end with her initials. Gigi admits that she was well aware of the implications of her performance and everyone should take it lightly as well.
