NES Classic in Stock at Best Buy Stores for Black Friday, Quite a Few Says Employee
Nintendo NES Classic

The Nintendo NES Classic will be in stock for Best Buy's Black Friday sale in stores, according to employee.

The Nintendo NES Classic is sold out everywhere since the retro console launched on November 11. Only Walmart offered scheduled NES Classic Edition flash sales online in the past days. GameStop had a few bundle on sale recently. No other store offered the NES after launch.

Update Nov. 29: We have talked to our source again at this Best Buy store, about why the NES did not show up Best Buy on Black Friday.

The last announced NES sale was on Tuesday at 5pm ET. Walmart has not announced any new sale. A Best Buy employee told I4U News on Tuesday that Best Buy stores will have NES Classic available on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the source, Best Buy is getting a new shipment of the NES Classic Edition for the retailer's Black Friday sales event. The source has been told that they are getting, quote "quite a few consoles this time." Best Buy's plan is to spread the NES stock throughout the day, possibly across Best Buy's Black Friday sale on Friday and Saturday.

The employee, who wants to stay anonymous, cannot confirm if all Best Buy stores will have the $59.99 Nintendo NES Classic Edition in stock for Black Friday. To maintain the source anonymity we can't disclose the store's exact location. The source works in a Best Buy store in a metropolitan area in Pennsylvania.

We have reached out to Best Buy to get additional information on the Nintendo NES Classic availability at Best Buy on Black Friday. The company has not yet responded to the request.

Nintendo's manufacturing partners had two weeks to make new NES consoles to arrive in time for Black Friday sales events. Nintendo has been overwhelmed with the demand for the NES. Industry insiders say Nintendo is notorious for underestimating consumer demand for their new products or intentionally keeping supply short to support the hype.

The NES Classic Edition is not high-tech. It's simple off the shelf electronics without technological challenges. The supply constraint has Nintendo fans worried about the Nintendo Switch launch. This new Nintendo console is much more sophisticated. Launch inventory is already predicted to sell out immediately.

The new Nintendo Entertainment System is hailed as a great item for the Holidays. It works great as gift for adults as well as kids. Families can enjoy playing the simple video games from the 80s together. Because of the hype around the new NES, it is already speculated that Nintendo will re-release more retro games and consoles. We could see in one of the next Holiday seasons a mini Super NES, mini Nintendo 64, mini Nintendo GameCube and even a mini Wii.

The NES Classic Edition comes only with a single wired controller. There are 3rd party controllers and accessories that make the NES more fun to use. Gamers can get additional controllers and even wireless controllers.

Nintendo knows it messed up, underestimating the demand for the NES Classic Edition. Nintendo has issued a statement on Twitter on November 11 acknowledging the shortage of the NES Classic Edition. "The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system is a hot item, and we are working hard to keep up with consumer demand. There will be a steady flow of additional systems through the holiday shopping season and into the new year. Please contact your local retailers to check availability."

The palm-sized NES console, retailing for $59.99 list price, features the classic Nintendo NES controller many geeks have grown up with. The retro console comes pre-installed with 30 classic NES games including Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Metroid, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventures. The NES Classic Edition system is a miniaturized version of the groundbreaking NES, originally released in 1985.
