The Target Cyber Monday 2016 sale is again discounting almost everything by 15%.

Update: The Target Cyber Monday 2016 Sale is released online at around 3am Sunday. Popular products like Apple Watch Series 2 sell out quickly.

For two days during the Target Cyber Monday sale, almost everything will be off 15% on target.com. The giant retail chain has just announced their Cyber Monday 2016 sales plan. Target offered a site-wide sale first time last year that turned out to be extremely popular bringing the site down.

"Traffic and orders exploded, shattering sales records and also causing our website to buckle under the pressure. The message from guests—which is what we call our Target customers—was loud and clear: Guests loved saving 15 percent across Target’s broad assortment during the holiday shopping season," said Target in a statement released today.

We covered the Target server issues last year. The traffic on Target's site was exceeding that of Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving. Target has learned something from the disaster last year.

Because of the huge demand, Target decided to expand their Cyber Monday sale in two ways. Target adds a second day of Cyber Monday sales online. The 15% off Target Cyber deal will be available on Sunday and on Monday.

Target Cyber Monday 2016 Two Day Sale 15% off

On top of that, customers get also 15% off in Target Stores. To offer Cyber Monday in stores is against the nature of Cyber Monday, but we believe the 15% discount on almost everything in stores might rival Black Friday foot traffic on Sunday and Monday.

"We’re ready to serve guests who choose to shop us online over these two days. Since last year, our tech teams have stood up an entirely new front-end and back-end for our website. We have been furiously pressure-testing the site with both simulated and real traffic. We’ve also built more flexibility into the site so it can scale up for major events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and I’m confident the site can now handle far greater volume than a year ago," said Target CIO Mike McNamara.

The appeal of a 15% sitewide discount are the savings on items that are not on sale usually. A lot of consumers have for instances bagged Apple products for the 15% off. The RedCard members could talk off another 5%.

Target will have in addition to the 15% sitewide discount special cyber deals including:

Guests will find discounts on gifting items across electronics, toys, home and more. Top deals include:

$399.99 Samsung 43” Ultra HD TV plus $50 Target GiftCard (Reg. $599.99)

Free Xbox Live Gold three-month ($24.99 value) with Xbox One S 500GB Battlefield 1, $249.99

Refer to the Target Cyber Monday Guide for all the details needed to score the best deals. Target has begun to sell Black Friday 2016 deals online at target.com. The deals include the advertised deals on Beats and iPad mini 2.

Cyber Monday is the encore shopping event to Black Friday. The deals on sale on Cyber Monday are not different anymore from Black Friday. The difference are retailer specific. While Amazon (Amazon Cyber Monday Deals) and Walmart (Walmart Cyber Monday deals) are continue to offer individual deals, like on Black Friday, Target is offering a 15% sitewide discount. This deal broke Target's online store last year. The retailer said that they made a lot of changes and Target.com will not fail on Cyber Monday.

Target will also offer the 15% sitewide discount in stores, negating the meaning of Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday, a term coined by Shop.org in 2005, got established when retailers saw a trend of consumers shopping online on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Today, Cyber Monday is viewed as the online equivalent to Black Friday.

Cyber Monday 2016 is expected to set a new record for online spending. 2016 Black Friday and Thanksgiving Day already set a new records in online spending with $3 billion and $1.93 billion respectively. Cyber Monday 2015 set a new record with $3 billion. This year Cyber Monday sales need to exceed $3 billion to beat Black Friday.
