CES 2017: Robo Named Best of Innovation Awards Honoree
  • Robo announces competition with 3D printer prize at CES 2017

The Innovation Award honoree will carry out a design completion to win the Robo R2 or C2

At the CES Unveiled event held last week in New York City Robo’s R2 prototype 3D printer was named a CES 2017 Best of Innovation Awards Honoree.

At the time Braydon Moreno, the CEO and co-founder of Robo, stated they were honored to be recognized for their product design and engineering in this prestigious category.

Apparently Robo was so happy with the development they have announced a competition for attendees at the upcoming CES 2017 event in Las Vegas.

The lucky winner would have to create a 3D design from any of the four categories which are Design or Architecture, Education, Arts or Crafts, and Hobby. The design model will have to have a minimum size of 30 x 30 x 30 mm and a max size of 120 x 120 x 140 mm.

Robo R2 is a high performance 3D printer which features enclosed build chambers, WiFi, an onboard camera and interchangeable heads.

What makes R2 really remarkable is its compatibility with both a paste extruder and a laser engraver. Robo will also showcase their other 3D printing model the C2 along with the R2 at CES.

The R2 printer also comes with the new Robo app, which allows users to connect and print through the mobile device. The app also monitors the progress of every print in real time. Similarly the Robo app can be used to manage multiple prints and printers at once as it is capable of connecting to cloud libraries.

Furthermore the Robo app can access thousands of 3D models and as a plus point it features in-app purchases like print kits and other accessories.

According to Robo the R2 will be available for purchase by February 2017. The Robo R2 will come with price tag of $1299 and currently it can be pre-ordered at the official website.

Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association, CES will run through January 5-8, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.
