Electric Maserati Alfieri to follow shortly after the release of conventional model

Maserati has announced the proper plan through which the company would be launching an Electric Maserati Alfieri by the year 2020.

The company is all set to launch the two seater sports car in all its electric version glory. The best thing is that that the news is pretty authentic as the company has fixed the launch date for the car to arrive in 2020 too, according to AutoCar

We had heard about the rumors of the electric version of the car in the summer, but nobody was sure of it, nor had the company released any statement on the issue.

Maserati however have confirmed now that the pure electric model of the Alfieri is on its way and will be following the launch of its petrol version variant. The new Alfieri will showcase a twin turbo charged petrol V6 engine. The petrol engine car will be arriving in year 2019.

The Alfieri concept was shown in 2014 for the first time by the company. At that it was the plan to produce this car with a V8 engine and to launch it by year 2016.

However the emission legislation and fuel economy stats led the company to use a V6 powertrain in the upcoming model rather than the V8 which was predicted earlier on.

The time when the Electric Maserati Alfieri will arrive the EU fleet average of Carbon dioxide limits will be set at around 95 grams per kg. Thus it will be the possibility that Electric Maserati Alfieri will become the first car ever to have spun the Maserati chassis.

The weight has been reduced significantly for the two seater that will increase the range in electric vehicle and will be better off in terms of emission as well.
