Climate change may cause transformation in the Arctic region.

Mankind needs to put a stop to the emission of greenhouse gases and the burning of fossil fuels. That is because global warming is causing a SNAFU in the Arctic.

This in turn could have very bad consequences for the inhabitants of that region as well as for the rest of us earthlings. The Arctic’s delicate balance is being affected by climate change. Oil, gas and coal extraction have wreaked havoc on the region.

The Arctic ecosystem is undergoing radical changes in a brisk manner. Ice is undergoing meltdown, sea levels are on the rise and coastal regions are undergoing erosion.

Permafrost is breaking down and a thawing effect has taken hold. Even the plants and animals are migrating away from the loci. 19 regime shifts have taken place, according to Reuters.

These represent major faultlines which could cause a fracture in the lands of the region not to mention deluges in the waters. Sea-ice free summers could become the norm and fish colonies could undergo utter collapse.

The sustainability of the climate is becoming harder to maintain over time. The natives are also getting restless since their means of living is under attack. The changes in the Arctic could even ultimately influence the monsoons in Asia.

The results could be pretty damaging in the long run. There will be rude awakenings and potential surprises and shocks held in store by Mother Nature if this pollution and resource depletion continues any longer.

A grand destabilization will occur along the way. In the past year alone, warning signs have emerged from the Arctic. This month alone the average temperatures have gone up 20 degrees Celsius more than the normal mercury levels.

These subtle changes in the region will be multiplied in their return journey. When the comeuppance arrives, it will be a big shock and destabilize the region not to mention the rest of the world.

Finland, Russia and Canada are just some of the countries that are facing the side effects of this thing called climate change. It is indeed the scourge of the 21st century.

Many adaptations by local communities in these regions have taken place over time due to these unwelcome changes. The Inuit are a prime example. Instead of being nomadic hunters, they have become artists who churn out arts and crafts of their local region.
