Scientists are Ready to Challenge Einstein's Physics

Recently physicists have dared to go beyond Einstein. The novel theories they are testing might just change our worldview of the universe.

The speed of light was thought to be a constant yet now physicists are looking into the novel hypothesis that it may be variable. Einstein’s theory of relativity changed the Newtonian worldview.

Yet now, Einstein may be left behind in the search for greener pastures of physics. In fact, the prediction could be tested by scientists. Einstein had observed that the speed of light was a constant in the universe. 

Many theories in physics have built upon Einstein’s knowledge base. He was a super genius of his times. What happened in the early universe just a few seconds after the Big Bang is what this is all about.

That was when time and space not to mention matter and energy were created. Some researchers have pointed out that the speed of light could have been higher in this nascent universe.

A recent prediction regarding this was made by a distinguished physicist. It all began from certain premises. The structures in the cosmos such as the galaxies underwent formation from fluctuations in the early universe.  

This is recorded in the cosmic microwave background. The phenomenon forms a spectral index of sorts which can be used to answer many important questions of physics.

The physicists have employed a heuristic to put a numerical value on this spectral index. This was all published in a journal recently. The prediction will soon be put to the test too.

The figure amounts to 0.96478. This is very near the cosmic microwave background. There is a slight margin of error here though. This theory, which was introduced in the late 90s, has currently achieved calibration. Now finally the prediction could be tested in reality. 

The fact that the speed of light could be variable shows that the laws of nature are not the same everywhere in the mysterious cosmos. That the universe underwent expansion and is still undergoing it is a central tenet of modern physics.

Yet all areas of the universe are said to be connected to each other. The light that travels to the edges of the universe is rather like the heat that travels to the ends of a room from a radiator.

Variability in this is the next big question in physics for the future. Maybe Einstein didn’t have all his stuff down pat despite his being a super genius.
