Jeremy Clarkson shots down Netflix’s claim that Amazon paid $250 million for their latest show The Grand Tour

Once BBC fired Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear for misbehavior with one of the producers, we have seen the show decline.

That is particularly because his co-hosts, Richard Hammond and James May also left the show. No matter how much RJ Chris Evans tried to redeem the show, BBC almost lost the show because of declining ratings.

Clarkson, Hammond and May suffered no major losses with the sudden action. Having successfully proven that they were the reason that people watched Top Gear.

They were then able to sell the idea of a bigger and better show in The Grand Tour. The show went to the highest bidder and on November 18th, Amazon Prime premiered the first episode of the show which broke records in countries including U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria and Germany.

Amazon is the top contender to compete with Netflix in online video content and The Grand Tour is one of the major steps for Amazon to step into the major leagues that will make it compete with Netflix and You Tube.

At time like that Netflix content boss Ted Sarandos recently said in a statement to The Telegraph that The Grand Tour had cost Amazon "about a quarter of a billion dollars." He said that Netflix had also made a bid for the show and it had reached that amount.

While many would think that the show was indeed expensive for the network, Jeremy Clarkson set the record straight about the amount paid by Amazon for the show.

He aid in an interview published Wednesday with CNN that, “Amazon spent far less than Netflix would have you believe. It’s nowhere near as expensive as people have been saying.”

He did not reveal the number that Amazon had spent on the show but Clarkson reassured that it was definitely not quarter of a billion dollars.
