  • Tesla will slowly release its new autopilot system in three weeks

The automaker has entirely rebuilt the autopilot system based on its ‘Tesla Vision’ architecture.

The world is anxiously waiting for the release of the Tesla Model S, but before the cars hit the road, let us discuss one very pressing matter concerning the new Model S.

Tesla previously announced they will equip the Model S with their brand-new “self-driving-ready hardware”. The new autopilot system would not be able to drive itself just yet as Tesla is still working on it.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk just announced the first version of their new autopilot will be released in just three weeks. This does not mean the car will be able to drive itself, but the first component of the entire system will roll out in three weeks.

According to Tesla their new generation autopilot system will be made based upon the ‘Tesla Vision’ image processing architecture. The entire system is being rebuilt and is being called as the ‘Enhanced Autopilot’.

However the entire system will not be completely ready until the end of next year. The Tesla autopilot system will be fully functional when it reaches the full level 5 autonomous driving stage.

Until then Tesla will keep on releasing little tidbits of the system to implement and improve the new Tesla Vision hardware, every month with updates.

The autopilot will be compatible with the 8.1 version of Tesla’s operating system. The complete Tesla autopilot will be able to match speed in different traffic conditions.

Similarly staying in lane or changing lanes automatically without driver assist will be possible. Transition on freeways and self-parking will also be carried out automatically, according to Electrek.

The new autopilot will also come with a new and more efficient version of the Tesla ‘Autosteer’ which will be called the‘Autosteer+’ consisting of not one but three front cameras.
